The Forum introduced the Rotary Drilling Well Control Assessment and
Certification programme for Surface BOP stack operations in January
1993.
In April 1994 the programme was extended to include a Combined Surface/Subsea
BOP stack programme.
A Well Intervention Pressure Control certification programme covering
Wireline, Coiled Tubing and Snubbing Operations was introduced in April
1998. To date this programme has been accredited at 88 locations in
18 countries and is rapidly establishing itself as the de-facto certification
programme for well service personnel.
By end December 2006 over 100,000 candidates had sat an IWCF programme
at more than 200 locations in 60 countries in every continent of the world,
and in
up to 16 different languages.
